My name is Judy Rolfe and my late husband Wes (Hoss)  Rolfe is the founder
and creator of TRUCKERS FOR A CAUSE.  He was a truck driver for 20 years.

It was his passion.  A few years ago Wes found out that he was diabetic.  He

began taking medicine and really didn't take it seriously.  While getting
his physical a few months later the Dr. told him that he was going to have
to go on insulin.  As I'm sure you know you can not get a CDL much less
drive a truck if you take insulin.  He came home thinking it was the end of
his career.  We set down and talked about it and decided to go back and talk
to the Dr. and see if there were any other options.  The Dr. told Wes that
he would have to go on a diet, take his medication and start getting plenty
of exercise.  We got on the internet and found out everything that we could
about diabetes.  While out on the road Wes began to talk to other drivers
and found out that he was not the only one with this problem.  With the help
of Dave Nemo and his XM radio program Highway to Health and Mary Ellen with
Solutions Unlimited he formed Truckers For A Cause.  He recruited other
drivers and they banned together to lose weight, share ideas, getting
exercise while on the road, support for each other and eating healthy.
Solutions Unlimited sponsered them and with the weight they lost the drivers
were able to present a $1000 each to Trucker Buddy and the Special Olympics
at the Dallas truck show. Wes was very proud of this and I was proud of him.
He lost 100 lbs in a little over a year.He felt great and he looked great
and was enjoying our 5 year old grandson Lane when tragedy struck our
family.  Wes became ill and we found out that he had cancer.  The surgeons
operated on his stomach and took out a tumor.  They thought they got it all
but the cancer had spread to his lungs.  I lost the most precious, loving,
careing person in my life. Wes passed away February 20, 2008.  I thank God
every day that we had our time together I wouldn't trade it for anything in
the world.  Our grandson Lane had a dream shortly after Wes passed and he
said that papaw floated down to him and he had wings.  With that I know Wes
is with GOD and I will pray that each and every one of you drivers are safe
and make it home to your families.

GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU AND BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!
